I assume from your question that Numbers does not read or write Excel files. AFAIK OOo Calc does not have import or export filters for Numbers files, like it does for Excel, so you would need to save (or export) them into a format that OOo can read. I'm assuming Numbers can do that. (You can tell I haven't used Numbers.)

The best solution would be to install OOo 3.x on both machines, import your data into Calc, and save all in .ods (OpenDocument Spreadsheet) format, which can then be used by OOo on any operating system. If for some reason that doesn't work for your requirements, then you'll probably need to do some import/export fiddling with Numbers.

And, of course, if you have any macros in the Excel files or the Numbers files, things get more complicated.

Please reply only to the list, not directly to me.
