I am looking at two OO3 instances, and, . for one the help about
says it is version 3.1.0 DEV300m37 build 9371 . for the other the
help about says it is version 3.0.1 OOO300m15 build 9379
Codeline OOO300 was the branch used for the release OpenOffice.org 3.0.0
and 3.0.1 versions
OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 OOO300m15 build 9379 is the released 3.0.1
Codeline OOO310 is the branch used for the upcoming OpenOffice.org 3.1.0
and 3.1.1 releases
Codeline DEV300 is the branch used for the ongoing work for next releases.
DEV300_m41 was the first developer build, when OOO310 was separated.
The first build in the 3.1 branch was OOO310m1.
The current latest developer build is OOO310m4.
(See also info on the page http://download.openoffice.org/next/index.html )
I understand that the first is a developer snapshot and maybe from
some different branch of development(?), but is there any
significance in the two "m" numbers m37 and m15? Does m37 in any
way indicate that this one has "more" of anything or is "newer" or
what? What does the "m" number represent?
And, given that the m numbers are different, is it meaningful to
compare the two build numbers and conclude that the build 9379 is
newer than the build 9371, (in which case, why does 9371 have the
higher version number, 3.1.0?), or are they in different build
numberspaces?
Don't know that. Only that OOO310m4 is 9388.
(The reason I ask is that one loops with 100% CPU on one particular
.ppt and I want to know if I should ignore one or other build but
also whether either of these instances has more function that I might
then lose)
Ah ;-)
Best is: test with latest stable version (linked from home page) and
with latest developer build OOO310m4 at the moment (but m5 coming soon).
