I couldn't get this to work. In the font formatting dialog box I have Arial assigned as the sans font and Junicode as the serif font. But the "font sans" and "font serif" commands just produce question marks.

That's odd: this works OK for me:
font sans left [ font serif {alignl stack { some-word # another-word }} right ]
... though with different fonts from yours.
