May I suggest that you take advantage of the fine manuals, HOW-TOs et
cetera available from http://documentation.openoffice.org/ to get you
started. 

Assuming you have downloaded and installed OOo, then making a
presentation is easy. Go to File > New > Presentation and you should get
a wizard-like helper for making your first Impress presentation. If you
have not installed OOo then please download it, install it and start
work. One caveat, if you are on Windows, you would be wise to accept the
defaults especially when asked about which Office suite you want to be
associated with MSO files.
