That is because OpenOffice.org (OOo) is an integrated office suite.
It contains a core component which all the individual applications use.
This core component is over 80% of the entire program. All the
individual components comprise less than 20% of the total. If OOo were
to offer individual downloads, getting just the Writer component would
require downloading somewhere between 85% to 90% of the entire suite.
In other words, individual downloads are not available.
