No, I'm not entering the page number.
The other possibility is that you used the Pages button instead of
the Page button, of course. That would be an easy slip to make.

I tried the second solution and it seems to partly work. The only
problem is that it starts with page 0. How do I get it to start with page 1?
Not only do I not see this problem, but I don't even know how to
create it! You can change the page numbering to start from other
than one at Format | Page... | Sheet | Page order | First page
number. You might look there. But this lets me change the first
page number to something larger than one - but not less.
