Yes. In OpenOffice do File>Save As. Choose the appropriate MS Office format from the list of available formats. Make sure the little box labelled "automatic filename extension" is ticked (checked). Done. Or you can install the free "ODF Plugin" for MS officewhich lets MS Office read, edit and save OpenOffice format documents.
