You could use a black backround, then centre your 'slide' image on that.
If you have a master slide, which is normal, then a black rectangle
covering all of slide one's frame and set backwards will do the same
thing.

Aside: you've actually confused me between what you mean is a slide and
a presentation. You have used the word 'slide' in two contexts, as in
the slide (an object) shown on slide 1 (the first frame). What sort of
object is the former?
