Could the problem be that the Quickstarter is running? That would be an icon on the lower right corner of the computer screen. I never have mine running so I can't verify exactly what it looks like. If you do have the OpenOffice Quickstarter running, then right click on it, and one of the options should be something like "Exit Quickstarter". Once you're done that, try again to uninstall.
Also, it might be helpful if you told us what steps you were taking when you attempted to "delete" the program. Are you using the Uninstall feature of the computer? And if you're doing that, what response do you get from the computer, when it doesn't allow you to delete it?
