A funny request, but is there any way to automatize the change?
Or to transform manually selected text into character style? I
understand it's a funny request!

If I understand you correctly, you could define a character style
to meet your needs and then use it as follows:

1 Select the required text 2 Remove all manual formatting by Ctrl+M
(Format>DefaultFormatting) 3 Apply your new character style

Peter,

I am not the author of the original question, but I would like to
know how to create the character style.

No problem.

1 Open the Styles and Formatting window and select character styles.
2 Right-click in the window and choose New
3 Give your style a suitable name in the 'Organiser' tab and link it to
your standard character style, probably 'Default'.
4 Select the 'Position' tab. In there choose 'Expanded' spacing and crank it up to whatever meets your needs. The attached screenshot shows 4 pt as an example.

This is not quite what the OP wanted, but it does the job I think.
