The trouble I'm having is inserting LX4. There does not appear to
be a way to directly insert that LX4 into a new block of text.
Is this a text (Writer) document? One way to do this is to enter all
the material as if it is in the list:
LX1 blabla
LX2 blablabla
LX3 moreblabla
LX4 some-text-not-in-a-list
LX5 this-is-the-fourth-item
Then put the cursor into each paragraph in turn that you do not wish
to be part of the list and click the Numbering On/Off button, which
appears in both the Formatting and the Bullets and Numbering
toolbars. The remaining list items will be renumbered appropriately
and will remain part of a single list.
Of course, it is not necessary to enter the entire list before
removing the rogue paragraphs from the list. In your case, once you
have typed "some-text-not-in-a-list" against "LX4" and pressed Enter,
you will see the next line numbered "LX5". You can now immediately
remove the rogue line from the list (as above) and see the next line
number change to the "LX4" that you require.
I trust this helps.
