That does not work.  When I paste the text, it does include the
numbering.  I have also been unable to copy just the numbering to the
clipboard.

That only works if I select a portion of the text before and after a
single list item.  This causes it to pick up nearby formatting, and
the pasted text needs to have its formatting edited.
