Hi

Is it possible to use "Quickstarter" for OpenOffice 2.4? I have OOO 2.4 and sometimes it
takes up to 3 minutes to open Writer the first time. On your advice, I checked the box labelled
"Load OpenOffice.org during system start up". It has a tick.

I use OpenOfficeWriter and a derivative letterhead frequently but it slows
things waiting for them to open at the time of use. Can they be opened at
startup like AVG and AdAware for immediate access in system tray? I use
WindowsXP Service Pack 3 and OpenOffice 3.0.1. I am not a list subscriber.

  1. Open Writer
  2. Go to Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org>Memory
  3. Near the bottom of the pane is a box labelled "Load OpenOffice.org
during system start up"; make sure this box has a tick (check mark) in it.
  4. Close Writer
  5. You *might* need to reboot Windows.

Now you will have an icon in the System Tray. It is the "Quickstarter".
Right click on it and choos whichever option you like.

See #5. You should see the OpenOffice icon in the System Tray. *Right* click on itg to start any of the OpenOffice components.
