I'm editing a document that has track changes on. I added a block
of text below an existing block. Initially, the added text looks
sort of like green, and is underlined. I want to change the text
color to yellow. I selected the block of text, then selected
"Character" from the context menu. In the "Font Effects" tab, I
tried setting "Font Color" and "Underlining Color" (with "Single"
underline) to Yellow, and clicked OK, but it didn't change the color
of the selected text. When I select the text again and select
"Character" again, the sample text in the box is yellow.
Does this have something to do with track changes being on?
Yes. The way that recorded changes are displayed by default includes
colouring them by author. This colouring takes precedence over the
text's real colour. (It has to, or you would never see it.) There
are three things that you can do:
o Trust in what you have done until you or whoever accepts or
rejects the changes.
o Make a copy of your document and accept all the changes. Check
the text colours there.
o Go to Tools | Options... | OpenOffice.org Writer | Changes. You
can modify there the way that changes are displayed. If you want
inserted text not to be coloured, for example, select [None] from the
drop-down list at Text display | Insertions | Color.
I trust this helps.
