There are a bit more than 2000 rows and what I want you to do is to
use the autofilter function.
For example I did this:
Click the autofilter button in the ”Till” column, which is column I.
Select the first thing in the list: ”Adindy” (yes, it's a fake word
and means nothing - if it does in some language, it's a coincidence).
This took about 18 seconds on my computer!
Selecting All took about 15 s.
between 3 and 5 seconds to filter on "Adindy".
Using Open Office 3.1.0 on Ubuntu 9.04 in a WUBI install on dual core
1.6GHz processors, 2GB RAM.
I have set the memory options in OO to 256MB for OO and 196 MB per object.
Since you have a Wubi install I guess that you have Windows too. Maybe
even Excel? If so, it would be nice if you could test this in Excel
too.

OK. Excel 2007 0n Vista Home Premium, same computer specs as above.
Firstly it takes 12 seconds to open the file.
Filter on Adindy is almost instantaneous.
Filter on All again almost instantaneous.
Compared with OO 3.1 on Vista Home Premium.....
10 seconds to open.
Filter on Adindy takes 5 seconds
Filter on All takes about 2.5 seconds.
Seems OO is not the best at filtering...... ;-)
