Where did you get your version of OOo? This does not sound like the
behavior of the standard version, which requires no login for this
action. Logins are required to submit issues, follow forums, and a few
other actions, but not to use the application or check for updates.

I am using OpenOffice.Org 3.1 version, and when I want to check the updates
of this version from the menus, help/check for updates, it opens a login page
and when I enter my user name and password, it doesn't accept that and asks
