That is probably one of the worst variants of OOo 3.x that one can use.

That functionality shouldn't exist in the Windows version either. (

Dictionaries are now considered to be extensions, and have to be
manually installed for each language that one uses.

That is probably due to the absence of a spelling checker for the
language that the document purports to be written in.

download the official dictionary extensions from.  (Note:  There are
no dictionaries for between half and three-quarters of the languages
which had dictionaries for OOo 2.x.   Furthermore, there are no
end-user friendly tools for migrating dictionaries from OOo 2.x, to
OOo 3.x.)
