Right click on the cell you want to change de date format ad select Format
Cells...
you are going to be directed to a Format Cells window in which you can make
anything
you want to the cell or cells you have selected, on there go to the Numbers
tab and in the
Format Code write "D.M.YYYY." that is what you want, that is what you get.

I have tried it and works perfectly. I have inserted 28/05/2009 (today date
on my
country format) and it turns to 28.5.2009. (in the format you want it to
be).

Have a nice day!
