What are you doing to unpack? Normally, you just double click on the
downloaded file to start the installation.

Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org>
You should not need to download again. Before you try to install the
downloaded file (by double-clicking on it), you might try disconnecting
from the internet, then turning off the antivirus and firewall.
Sometimes they're overly sensitive, if you got the file from the
www.openoffice.org website it is perfectly legal. If that works, you can
then reenable the AV and firewall, then reconnect to the internet.
(Never have an internet connection when not protected, of course!)
