There is an options in the Print dialogue to print "Selected cells", and I'd expect this to allow me to print just a selected chart. But - as you imply - this does not seem to work.
It is easy, however, to copy and paste a chart into a text (Writer) document, and you can achieve what you need from there. Since you will have copied only the chart, a simple print may suffice, but in any case, choosing the print range as "Selection" will work for you in Writer.
