Brewster replies: This isn't making sense, Walter, unless you're using a version that's a great deal changed from mine. You choose the column to sort by within the "SORT" box, not directly on the column. In other words, if you wish to sort the entire sheet, sorting by column W, all you do is select the entire sheet, once, and perform no more selections - you proceed to the "DATA"/"SORT" dialog box, where it asks you to enter the column ID you intend to use for the sort. Unless something has drastically changed in later versions than my admittedly somewhat ancient one.... ....soooo.... * select the whole sheet * click DATA * click SORT * it defaults to the "SORT CRITERIA" window, where you supply it the name of the column you wish to sort by, if there was a name supplied as a label or title for the column; if there wasn't, it's smart enough to know that and will ask you to pick a column letter ID, "W" in this case. * click "OK" You're done. Of course, if you need to separately preserve the sorted-on-"W" version, don't forget to "SAVE AS" to a modified version of the filename.
