Mark,

Perhaps it would be better if the EXPORT function were included in the SAVE AS
file list.  What you are looking for is accessed by the EXPORT function on the
FILE menu.  The HTML, PDF and SWF (Macromedia Flash) formats will give you a
standalone format that will allow your students to download and view without
their being able to change the content.

If my memory serves, Microsoft Office PowerPoint had a provisions whereby
you could save the presentation so that if someone downloaded it from
your website, they got a ready-to-run presentation rather than just a
download of the presentation itself.  At least I seem to remember that
was possible.  I no longer have MS Office available, so can't check.

I have a series of presentations that I give in the classroom I wish to
make available to my students.  I don't want them to be able to edit the
slides once they get them.

The current "save as" functions don't seem to provide this feature.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

tnx
