Ummm... this *is* a list, and gmane.org provides nntp (usenet) access for *lists*: http://gmane.org/about.php <quote> This is what Gmane offers. Mailing lists are funneled into news groups. This isn't a new idea; several mail-to-news gateways exist. What's new with Gmane is that no messages are ever expired from the server, and the gateway is bidirectional. You can post to some of these mailing lists without being subscribed to them yourself, depending on whether the mailing lists allow non-subscribers to post or not. </quote> So, if you've been authenticated to post to this *list* via gmane.org, then you are indeed subscribed. The difference is that those who subscribe to the list via email suffer the problem of having to download & read the list via email rather than using nntp. However, you will now come across the debate of actual email list users that parse unsubscribed headers to determine if someone is subscribed or not... But with gmane you can easily search to the 'unsubscribed' threads & read the gory details. Examples: "I pledge to NOT respond directly to non-subscribed posters." "[moderated" "Proposed stopgap for unsubscribed-users problem" "Bursts of unsubscribed users" "Unsubscribed Posters" etc., etc. Welcome the the list & congrats on using nntp/gmane to do so :-) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
