a)  Hardware that is more than five years old, that  does not
currently have a Linux driver, probably will never have  a Linux
driver;

b) There is some _specialized_  hardware  that, for  the foreseeable
future, will not have  drivers for either Linux, or  non-Microsoft
operating systems.  Depending upon the specific  hardware,
alternatives may or may not exist;
