I found I could search a number list as follows:
In the 'Search for" box I enter ^1 to find 1, ^11 to find 11, etc.
Make sure Regular Expression is checked in "more options" of the
search dialog.
Of note: If you click on find All it will find all numbers that begin
with number you are searching for. e.g. ^1 will find 1, 11, 12, etc.

This doesn't work as you describe it. These numbers for which I am
searching are generated by OpenOffice.org, and you cannot highlight
them, nor copy them to the clip board. And in my experience regular
expressions don't find them.
BTW I never did find how to do this in MS Word either. I was hoping it
might be possible here in some simple way.
