Due to possible legal and court issues, Red Hat, thus Fedora is very
cautious of what they include in their distributions. Blame the USA
copyright/patent/legal system for making this decision necessary. Look
at the debate over including Mono in Fedora and other Linux distributions.
I am a RedHat/Fedora user for years and feel the frustration that you
talk about. In the past there were a couple of things that the Fedora
package added that were not in the official OOo version. One was sound
support without the need for Java when running Impress presentations.
