Right - a little miscommunication, easy to understand how also.
You might think you could drop the block of cells into a dataview (the
grid view to a table)...but you can't.
You have to drop it onto the actual Table item.
In the main Base window click on the Table icon to display the table items.
Now drag your block of cells and drop them onto the table in the
"Tables" section of the window.
This triggers the copy data wizard.
