I'm assuming that you have a spreadsheet embedded into a slide show.
Initially created in .ppt format and now you have saved as .sxi ...

In most cases (since OOo reads xls files ok) there does not have to be
a conversion. Accordingly it is not automatically done.

You may have to recreate the slide show contents manually, using OOo,
to get proper conversion happening (although that is not a good answer
really).

As to accessing them programatically, potentially more of a question
for the [email protected] mailing list.
