I checked on the domain using whois.sc and whoever set up this domain in Dec

The domain currently expires in Dec 2009

In contrast OpenOffice.org is owner by Sun microsystems ltd

It definitely looks a spoof

I register my domains on a year-by-year basis as well. They all
"expire" in 12 months, but they are renewed well before that.

The only real deal for registering for more than
one year at a time is some sort of discount. I
started out with one registering company and them
moved a few times till if found the best one for
me, and for a better price. Same for web hosting
companies. I have had one of my domains out there
for over 15 years and moved it 4+ times as prices
and service change. So the year-by-year basis is
not a telling point. I currently use a monthly
billing for my web hosting company, since I did not
have the full yearly fee that month.

online for over 15 years, where my first email address
was over 60 characters due to the way email were done
back then.
