Hi NoOp,
the issue for embedding sounds is 16937 and I already started working on
it. Currently I plan to finish it for OOo 3.3 release.
Regards,
Christian

When you use WinZip to create an archive collection of files you are
offered the choice of having the archive remember the folder name of
each file. When you "unarchive" such an archive WinZip offers you the
choice of replicating that folder structure. I'm pretty sure 7Zip does
the same. I'd bet money that tar and similar *nix programs do too. So if
you use one of these programs to send your ODP and if you give
instructions to the recipient to be sure to replicate the folder
structure then s/he should be in good shape, no?
Note, I'm *not* saying OOo shouldn't support this; just that there might
be a simple workaround.
Thanks for the suggestion Harold. However, I'd prefer to avoid that
(replicating folders on someone's system) for a standard Impress
presentation.
I think the better solution would be to have the ability to 'unlink'
sound & video files in the same manner that you can do when you insert
an image in the Impress presentation[1]; Insert|Picture|From File & then
Edit|Links|Break Links if the 'Links' option has been ticked when you
inserted the picture. The latter breaks the link and embeds the picture
in the presentation.
[1] Example regarding Impress links & pictures:

And looking further at the documentation:

Note that Impress will only link the media clip, therefore when the
presentation is moved to a different computer, the link will most likely
be broken and as a consequence the media clip will not play. An easy
workaround that prevents this from happening is the following:
1. Place the media file to be included in the presentation in the
same folder where the presentation is stored.
2. Insert the media file in the presentation.
3. When sending the presentation to a different computer, send also
the media file and place both files in the same folder on the target
computer.

I reckon that I'll try to find an already filed bug & add on to that; if
I can't find one I'll generate one, as this is pretty frustrating for many.
