Ah that's it. You save the message as an attachment.  Not very impressive.
The operating system is Windows 2000. No I only use one copy at a time due
to space restraints.
Thus when I run a development version it's usually the only one.  I did
temporarily try installing OOo 3.1.1 beside it but that still didn't secure
filetypes.

I send all mail plain text signed PGP/MIME.

Then it should already be associated with all the OOo files.

Yes, but to answer your question succinctly, I needed to know the
operating system.

Do you have any other copies of OOo installed?
