Restarting will shut down any open applications. After the restart, delete the downloaded Openoffice dmg file and re-download it. Keep your laptop plugged in during the download to avoid your battery going dead, because the download will take a long time on dialup. When you open the downloaded dmg, you will have to install it. I assume you know how to install applications from a disk image. Once it is installed, you should be on your way. John
