Thank you so much for your assistance. I will try the download again
since I am afraid to use it when I get that warning.
You are correct that I didn't have a chance to open it before the
battery went dead. Lesson learned for next time.
At the risk of proving how incompetent I am can you tell me how to
delete the previous download ?

Hi Penny.
Doesn't sound good. I'm assuming you didn't have time to open
openoffice after your download and before your computer battery
went dead. If so, this suggests to me that there might just be a
problem with the download. Sometimes when a file is downloading
there is a short period after reaching 100% while the last bit of
the file is being written to disk, and if this didn't happen,
you've got a bad download.
I would seriously suggest that you make a new download. That's a
bummer if you're on dialup, but better safe than sorry.
You won't regret having chosen Open Office. It's got everything
you need. Just remember, if you share documents with others, that
you might need to save them in Microsoft Word format (use Save As
on the File menu) as not everyone has Open Office yet. But spread
the word amongst your friends! ;)

Hi,
I am completely lost. I downloaded openoffice last night but my
computer battery went dead just after the download.
Since recharging my Macbook I attempted to open my download. I
received a warning that I need to close openoffice.org on host,
but I have no clue what they are talking about, let alone how to
achieve.
I haven't been able to do any tutorials as I am on dial-up, so as
you can see I am in rough shape.
Any assistance anyone could provide would be so gratefully
appreciated !!! I am trying to do a presentation on my mac and
someone said
openoffice would be a good choice for doing that.
