Hello Charles,

Unlike Writer, Calc and Impress there is no file level interoperability between Base and Access.

There is the ability to connect to the tables in an Access database, mdb or accdb format.
Base offers
- read/write access data held in tables
- ability to create new tables w/ limitations
- limited ability to edit table definitions
- 'read only/data only' access to the queries
contained in the mdb or accdb file.

Base does not make use of forms, reports or other resources contained in the Access file.

So, creating a Base file that connects to an Access file would mean that any changes made to the data by either application are available to a user in the other application - just not simultaneously.

I hope that helps.

Drew
