If the font you are using does not have the specific glyph, but does
have glyphs in the same sub-range, then the font is silently
substituted.  If it lacks the entire range, then squares are
substituted.  This operation is done regardless of how the Font
Replacement Table is configured.

The major forks are:
* NoGo OOo, which is found mainly on Linux;
* Sun OOo, which is found mainly on Windows;
* NeoOffice, which is found mainly on Mac OS X;
