The bug is only in the Writer - in Calc, Impress or Draw is ok.

Haven't opened that issue yet, but as I was preparing to do so I found
that you can indeed select that fontwork object, in writer.
Simply hold down the CTRL key while you click it - same as if you wanted
to select a single object amongst a GROUPED set of objects.
Now - I don' know if that was intended or not..will ask on the QA ML
first and let you know what I hear back on the ML.
