simply a "rule" of mine that I never open attachments, period.

Michelle's message was not sent as an attachment. I read it without
opening anything.
It did include a pgp-signature which probably caused your email
program indigestion. Microsoft Outlook Express is crap. I'd suggest
switching to a competent program like Thunderbird.
Hmm, interesting. I think I know why the difference though: I just
remembered I read as Plain Text so that would explain the empty bodies
in those posts. Apparently the bodies are also html instead of the
expected Plain Text.
Nope. The message you replied to was in plain text. Go to view-source (I
don't know the command in Outlook Express) and you can see everything in
the message.
Again, it is the PGP signature that is giving your faulty email reader
hiccups. Send complaints to Microsoft. Better still, switch to Thunderbird.
I read in Plain Text for the same reasons. Most newsgroups require
Plain Text so to see anything html I have to hit the alt-shift-h keys
to switch modes.
Why so paranoid? I always read in HTML.
