That's good - since they are the same! The file formats are
identical, the different extensions merely indicating what you want
to happen when the file is opened. Documents with the .ppt
extension open in Powerpoint as if for further editing; those with
the .pps extension display as a "slide show", which is neater when
you are delivering the presentation. The option to save as .pps is
not present in my version 3.1.1 of OpenOffice, so I'm guessing it
must be new in version 3.2; in any case, you can simply rename
these files to change the extension as needed.
Both formats were available for a while.
I believe there to be only one format, going under two
extensions. If you think there are or were two formats here, could
you please suggest some differences?
I haven't used either for a while, but last time I did .pps opened
normally in MSSlideShow (V2003) whereas .ppt didn't.
Like me, Microsoft don't appear to have heard of their product called
SlideShow; do you know something we don't?
