This sounds like you have serious filesystem errors on your hard drive.

First, try running scandisk:

1. Right-click on your C: drive in 'My Computer'

2. Click 'Properties'

3. Click the 'Tools' tab

4. Under 'Error-checking', click 'Check Now'

5. Check both checkboxes: 'Automatically fix errors', and 'Scan for and
attempt recovery of bad sectors'

6. Click 'Start'

Let it run to completion.

Reinstall Openoffice...
