I also find it difficult to dig into OOo Macro / Basic .
I had to read Andrew Pitnoyak's
"AndrewMacro.sxw" file which gets you quickly into OOo Basic
you can find this at http://www.pitonyak.org/AndrewMacro.sxw
This will also point you in the direction of important pages on the OOo
website.
You will have to dig, even if you know a different version of Basic from
another office suite
because the terminology and methodology are different.
The most important improvement in OO to aid Basic programmers
would be for the Macro record to record everything,
and record decent basic using object (UNO?) rather than the dispatcher
service.
It may do this in 1.9.109 I hope so. I am about to look!
