Hi
If you are thinking of numbered equations,
the auto-text is already present

enter nf then hit [F3]
this will insert an automatically numbered equation.

other hint :
if you want to  work with OOoMath like with LaTeX
you'll have to learn the code (not difficult)
and if Alt i o f is too long, you can define your own shortcut in
Tools > Customize > Keyboard > Insert > Formula (the upper in  3.2.0 and the 
lower in previous releases , because there are two times "Formula")
