Brewster replies: I tried it. Loaded it as is, and it reported (1) Word97/2000 format, and (2) read-only. So I saved it in .odt format, and presto! it accepted input in the variety of ways it was apparently designed for. Using Ubuntu 10.04, Open Office 3.2. So it works fine, in a general sense. At least so far as I pursued it. To the extent that you're having problems with it, those problems would seem to be an artifact of your particular installation, or your failure to go through the necessary motions to make it march, or both. One thing is fairly evident; it is *not* a case of OOo being "trash software" or "full of errors", as you so recklessly charge. It very much appears that the "NIGHTMARE" is largely of your own making. BTW it is customary when posting a help request on a list of this kind, to specify what operating system version you are running it under, and what version of Open Office. It makes it much more difficult to help you with that information missing. Just for future reference.............
