I run OO 3.2. Yesterday, all text became black (probably automatic) and

it. Same problem.
That means that whatever you did was saved in the per-user (not
per-installation) configuration, which is intentionally (and usually
helpfully) preserved across any reinstallation or upgrade.
What did I do wrong?
You probably put a tick in Tools | Options... | OpenOffice.org |
Accessibility | Options for high contrast appearance | Use automatic font
color for screen display.
And how do fix it?
Remove the tick.
Note that, if this is indeed the problem, the changes to font colour you
attempted would have been successful and would have shown if you actually
printed your document. The setting merely causes the text to appear in
high contrast (normally black-on-white) on the editing screen.
I trust this helps.

Your suggestion worked. I had actually tried it before with no success. So
this time I exited the entire program after removing the tick. When I
reopened the program and then the file, it worked fine thanks
Jonathon had made an excellent suggestion for deleting a file before
reinstalling. I am sure it would work, too. I never got that far as
Brian's suggestion worked
