Just for clarity, are you talking about space above and below paragraphs or space between lines *within* a paragraph?
If its the first, then there are various options on the 'indents and spacing' tab for the particular text style. If its the second, then on the same tab have a look at 'line spacing'. I found that the 'fixed' setting let you change the space to mim of 0.25cm and 'proportional' lets you take it down to 50%. At both settings the space is reduced and text is nearly unreadable.
