I successfully built my project using the sample you provided. However,
when I save the file (as a Word XP file - the teacher requires MS Office
files), the fontworks disappears. If I try to redo the fontworks, it is
completely covered by a box of some kind. I thought it might be a text
box into which you had inserted the fontworks originally. I don't get
why it works in OOo but not in MS Word. Got any ideas?

Ah. I see what you are referring to; it retains the caption but clears
the fontwork. Looks like a bug to me. I'll have a closer look after my
Dear NoOp:

Fontwork is made of vector graphics. Every application that uses vector graphics treats them in a different way.

You have 2 possible approaches:

1) If you have word, you can redo the Fontwork as a Wordart (more or less the Microsoft counterpart of Fontwork), however it will not look exactly the same. This, however will not import exactly back into Writer, as it also is vectorial content.

2) You can export the Fontwork as a bitmap and paste it onto Word. Depending on your needs, and the appropriate resolution, you may have to install the Writer add-on that allows control of the resolution (or that may also be a prtt of Oo Draw). Alternatively, you may have to copy and pastre the Fontwork into Draw, then convert it into a metafile, then test the metafile in true Word.

If that does not work as required, you may then have to convert the metafile into a bitmap. You may be able to paste or load this into Gimp, then save it as a bitmap format, such as .PNG for subsequent loading into true Word, or back into Writer, prior to final export from Writer to .DOC format.

If you end up loading the metafile (or as an .SVG file) into Gimp, prior to exporting or saving, verify that what you are about to save (which by default will then be a bitmap) is of the appropriate resolution. You may also have to change the colour depth, depending on final requirements.

Best of luck,
