Today was the first time anyone has ever given me these instructions,
the ones listed on the site.
How long have I been asking for this kind of help? Feb 2010 or earlier?
This is the *generic* ooo-users list.
If you want specific instructions for a specif Operating System, you
should be asking on a support list for that Operating System (in this
case one of the Ubuntu specific user lists):
https://lists.ubuntu.com/
I know that this is a "generic" list. The Ubuntu lists are no help with
OOo problems,
since when I do get a response to my questions, I am told to go to
someplace else for
the information, since they are also a generic list and not a OOo
problem solving list.
I never knew, or remembered, that Ubuntu used some other flavor of OOo.
I do like the
fact that these other flavors do not tell you that it is not the
"standard" versions that you
get from the OOo web site. They have same splash screen and such.
This list it the best one out there.
This is the place I get the needed info for ALL my OOo questions, even
if it takes a while
and is OS specific. I am not the only one that gets OS specific info here.
The info that I received, and the creator of this thread, was about a
Database problem
with OOo, and specifically coming out that I did not have the Database
module as part
of the default install. I also found out that may version was not OOo's
Debian version,
but GO-OO's version. Then I was given a specific solution to replacing
the installed version
with the one from OOo's site.
I thank everyone who has commented on this thread and thank those who
had solutions
for the problems that came up within this thread.
Nowhere have I seen a better bunch of people who are willing to answer
question,
any questions, related to OOo, or any other problem in the computer
field. This group
is the best out there. Even my BOINC team's board is not as helpful
with their support
with BOINC as this board with OOo's support. That is saying a lot,
since that team is
the #1 BOINC team [and user group] worldwide. You people here are even
better.
