OK, I decided to give the 2.0 beta a shot on my Ubuntu 5.04 64-bit laptop. In Synaptic it listed:
openoffice.org2-common openoffice.org2-debian-files openoffice.org2-|103n- en-us I marked all for installation and hit Apply. That resulted in the following error messages: openoffice.org2-common Depends openoffice.or2-core (>1.9.79.2) but it is not installable openoffice.org2-debian-files Depends openoffice.or2-core (>1.9.76) but it is not installable openoffice.org2-|103n-en-us Depends openoffice.or2-core (>1.9.79.2) but it is not installable or language- support-en-us but it is not installable (sic) These three files were all from Universe. I reloaded Synaptic and tried again, but got the same error messages. So then I downloaded the tarball and tried to do a manual install. I followed the instructions and suggestions on Sun's site. I was most dismayed when I discovered that the tarball contained only RPMs, not deb packages. So then I went back to Sun and found instructions for using alien to convert the RPMs to debs. Unfortunately that failed with pages of error messages and the debs were not created. So I guess that's the end of that. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
