If your grandson's using a Windows or Linux _laptop_ (NOT a blackberry or cell) then your idea should very well work as long as the OS is up to date no matter where he is. I know it works for XP and Ubuntu for sure. It's Mac OOO that's lagging in this capability.

Hi! Is this ability a "hidden gem" too since few seems to use it in Open

I need to know how to put a 8 second movie clip in a document letter to
email to my grandson serving in Iraq. We created a pink background document
with red borders and we would like to paste a Valentines film clip in it of
his daughter. I am using Open Office Write on my MacBook though my friends
can do the same thing with MicroSoft Office on their Dells.

Thank you for any assistance.

If you want your grandson to be able to see the video, never embed it
in a document. Not in an Open Office document, and not in a Word or
Powerpoint document. That just makes the already fragile chain of
getting it to play even more fragile. Pink background be blessed but
missed.

In any case, pass my personal appreciation on to your grandson.
Assuming he's a combat soldier, I've fought in areas and populations
not too different from what he is fighting. Lots of friendly
civilians, one-in-a-hundred terrorist ruins it for both "sides". Dotan
Cohen says hi, and says to keep himself and his buddies safe. There is
a beer and a meal waiting for him if he ever gets around to visiting
Beersheba.
