When you try to get a SUM from that "range" it the same as
=SUM("$A$1:$A$2")
You won't get a SUM from a text.
=SUM(INDIRECT("$A$1:$A$2")) or
SUM(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(1;1;1)&":"&ADDRESS(2;1;1))) is the clumsy way to do
this.
