Several questions: Are OO and LO equivalent?

Yes and no.

If not, are there any significant differences?

It would depend on your idea of "significant". They look different but on the inside they are mostly the same. There are some reports that LibO does not handle files created in OOo but I can not confirm.

If so, please define.

Does this list deal with both?

That is a good question, I do not believe that I have seen any questions here about LibO.

If not, what's the OL list address?

If you go to http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/ you will fine links to help.

Lastly, is there any reason NOT to install OO v. 3.3?

No there is not a reason to NOT install OOo v3.3 and LibO v3.3.4 as the do not conflict so you can see for yourself which works for you.

This link to the OpenOffice.org forum maybe of interest.

Copy and paste the full address into your browser if clicking does not work.

To users list: I have to question the truth of the statement that you can install BOTH OpenOffice and Libre-Office on the same computer! My experience has been that Libre-office *AUTOMATICALLY TAKES OVER OPEN OFFICE, ENTIRELY! Luckily, I had tried to install on my second computer and was ABLE to stop the installation before it finished. I just so happen to have KAMI's Oxygen Office with all the bells and whistles, that Libre Office DOES NOT HAVE, so why bother going BACKWARD???*
